Sustainable Business Workshop Contest
&Review
RMMCA
would like to congratulate the contest winners of the
Sustainable Business Workshop contest on July 22, 2010. They
will receive 6 free hrs of one-on-one consultation
in either estimating, proposal writing, or human resources
services from Rex Davis & Associates LLC and W. Garnett &
Associates. The workshop was put on by RMMCA & COMTO which
provided members with training in estimating, proposal writing,
business marketing, and business management. The program consisted of
eight workshops which ran from April to July at RMMCA's office
in Centennial.
RMMCA's Sustainable
Business Workshop Part II Coming Soon
Because of the success of the first Sustainable
Workshop, RMMCA has decided to conduct a second series that will
focus on project management. The workshop is expected
to start later this year.
Breakfast with
Primes Networking Events
RMMCA along with its partners CCA
have come together to relaunch the "breakfast with
Primes" networking events. RMMCA will kick off its
"breakfast with Primes" with two networking events in
October and November TBD. These events will be held
every month starting in January 2011, providing a Prime is available
for hosting. These networking events will give
subcontractors the ability to build relationships with the Prime
contractors, thus, making it easier to understand what the Prime
is looking for in a bid proposal and for the Prime to
develope a working relationship with the subcontractor. The
subcontractor will also benefit from knowing about future projects
the Prime may have. The breakfasts will
be Free to RMMCA members while non-members
will be charged an admittance fee. Non-members can become RMMCA
members and enjoy these beneficial networking events for

Transportation Commission Workshop Recap: FASTER
Updates
- Bridge Enterprise Program Manager. AECOM
has been selected to be the Bridge Enterprise Program Manager
(BEPM).
- Bridge Enterprise - FY09-10 Projects / Project
Status. The Bridge Enterprise identified 21 bridges
for projects for FY10 (which ended on June 30) - click here for a list and
more information. Out of the 21 FY10 bridges:
·
6 projects (12 bridges) have already been let;
·
1 bridge is currently under ad, and 3 will go to ad
between Nov and Jan;
·
ROW was acquired for 1 project (2 bridges);
·
1 bridge was designed;
·
1 project (2 bridges) was deferred to the FY11 list.
- Bridge Enterprise - FY10-11 Candidate Projects and
Work Plan. A list of 56 candidate bridges for work in
2011 has been drafted (click here for
list). Fifteen projects (18 bridges) have been identified
for construction and are expected to go to ad between October
2010 and July 2011 - click here for
list. The rest of the bridges are expected to be designed
during FY11
(click here for list).
- FASTER Safety Projects. Click here for an update
on the status of CDOT's FY10 FASTER Safety Projects. Out
of a total of 49 projects:

14 are under construction;
·
5 have been awarded or are pending award;
·
13 are ready to go to ad - 10 in 2010 and 3 in 2011;
·
5 are ready to go to ad but await assignment of a
proposed ad date;
·
12 are in design and/or ROW acquisition.
SH 119 Main Street South Preliminary Plans Available
for Advance Review
CDOT is making the preliminary plans for an upcoming project
available for advance review by prospective bidders. The
project, C 119A-051 subaccount 16357 will be formally advertised on
August 12, 2010 with a four week AD period, but CDOT will have a copy
of the AD set available at our Golden office 425 A Corporate Circle,
Golden, CO 80401 starting Thursday, July 29th. Bidders
interested in viewing the advanced set should contact Jan Crepeau at
720 497 6900 to schedule a time slot between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM
weekdays. Bidders are welcome to view the plans and take notes,
but no copies of the plans may leave the office during the advance
viewing period. Questions should be sent to kevin.brown@dot.state.co.us.
This project consists of widening and curve
straightening on SH 119 just south of Black Hawk and features 140,000
CY of excavation that is mostly rock, 10,000 CY of muck excavation of
mine tailings to a nearby haz-mat repository, 16 54" caissons,
10 36" caissons, 4 24" caissons, a 5 span 4 lane roadway
bridge on bulb tee girders, associated abutments and superstructure,
a pedestrian bridge and bike path, 63,500 SF of precast segmented
panel MSE walls, stream channel improvements, 8,500 SY concrete
pavement, 14,000 Tons HMA overlay, associated culverts and
structures. The budget is expected to exceed $20,000,000.
